ESL recognized the concerns regarding the ESL One Katowice 2018 having only 4 Main Event matches in front of the audience. This change will affect the prize pool Qualifying Points distribution accordingly.

Originally, Spodek Arena was scheduled to hold only four Playoffs matches, leaving the first Quarterfinal to be played behind closed doors. The 2 day Main Event announced with so few live matches was taken with disappointment.
Explanation behind the schedule pointed out that the event was planned as only a two day event long ago, and there were no realistic way to add anymore days to it. Thankfully, ESL held their word and found a way to add at least one more match.
“ESL One Katowice is fast approaching and heres some new info.We recognize the interest from the community in getting more Dota matches played in front of the live audience.
Today we are happy to tell you that a 3rd place match-up has been added to the event. This match will be played at the Spodek arena on Sunday 25th February in a best-out-of-three series. A bigger slice of the prize-money pool and valuable Pro Circuit points counting towards The International 8 is up for grabs for the winner of the match.”

The first ever Major held in Poland will feature a total of 16 teams, with the main event held on February 24-25 in Spodek Arena, Katowice. The prize pool amounts to the usual for a Major: $1,000,000 as well as 1,500 Qualifying points.
